In addition to litigating in the construction area, Ron assists various parties in reviewing contracts and agreements for troubleshooting and proactive problem-solving. He frequently speaks to industry groups and has written articles on the preparation, interpretation and administration of construction contracts. He works with business clients to resolve contract disputes over performance, payment, defect and other relevant issues.
Ron also represents individuals and insurance companies in serious personal injury and property damage matters. He has been involved in products liability claims, mold claims, toxic tort litigation and other product defect litigation on regional and national levels. Ron also focuses on complex workers' compensation issues and catastrophic permanent injury claims.
He enjoys the opportunity to work with various parties to achieve fair and equitable claim results through settlement or trial within our tort claim system. In a related area, Ron provides guidance on insurance policies and language and has developed skills in the interpretation of these policies and their applicability to various fact problems, often a subject of dispute between insurance companies and their insureds.
Ron's experience in litigation has led to an interest in risk management, including the methods and techniques to minimize the possibility of litigation or to proactively develop the best possible case in the event litigation is unavoidable.
Ron frequently is selected as an arbitrator or mediator due to his experience and interest in assisting parties in reaching a compromise solution or litigated decision outside of the court system. He also counsels and represents clients in a variety of alternate dispute resolution forums.
He was recently appointed to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program instituted recently in Luzerne County in response to allegations of judicial misconduct in the Luzerne County Bench. In a Court Order issued April 22, 2009, Ron was among the attorneys and retired judges appointed to serve as Judges Pro Tempore for the conciliation and/or trial of specially-assigned civil cases. The Alternative Dispute Resolution Program is designed to expedite the resolution of pending civil cases in Luzerne County.
