For Immediate Release
Malvern, Pa. – Barley Snyder is proud to announce that partner Salvatore Anastasi has been named to two posts that shape the way national and international patent laws will be formed in the future.
Anastasi has been named as a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s Patent Harmonization Committee, and has been named the chair of the Patent Harmonization Task Force for the American Bar Association.
In the role with the AIPLA, Anastasi and the committee meet with industry leaders and patent office heads around the globe to set policy-balancing interests of patent owners, third parties and the public with a goal of streamlining the process of obtaining patents around the world.
With the ABA, Anastasi leads a task force that will craft the association’s policy recommendations to deliver to U.S. lawmakers for changes to harmonize patent laws and procedures with the rest of the world. The task force also will balance the interests of U.S. patent holders.
“It can be quite difficult for an international business to obtain patents in different countries, which slows down the pace at which the business can grow, create more jobs and help sustain a local and regional economy,” Anastasi said. “Bringing those various patent processes and laws closer together can push through some of the governmental barriers that exist for these companies and allow them to do what they do best – bring their product to a market that is often craving it.”
Anastasi is a partner at Barley Snyder and the chair of its Intellectual Property Practice Group. He’s no stranger to the AILPA or the ABA, having recently completed a term as a board member on the AIPLA and continuing to serve on committees within the Intellectual Property Law Section of the ABA. He is also the former chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Chester County Bar Association.
