For Immediate Release
Malvern, Pa. – Barley Snyder is pleased to announce that partner Joseph R. Falcon III has been named the chair of the Patent Legislation Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law.
The American Bar Association is the national voice of the legal profession. It works to improve the administration of justice, promotes programs that assist lawyers and judges in their work, accredits law schools, provides continuing legal education, and works to build public understanding around the world of the importance of the rule of law, according to its website.
The ABA’s Section of Intellectual Property Law works to advance the development of intellectual property laws, and their fair and just administration. On the Patent Legislation Committee, Falcon will help guide its direction and assist in the development of ABA policy on pending federal legislation relating to U.S. patent laws or affecting U.S. patent rights.
The ABA named Falcon, a member of the Barley Snyder Intellectual Property Practice Group, the vice chair of the committee in 2018 before he recently took over as chair for the 2020-2021 term. In 2019, the ABA-IPL named Falcon to its membership board.
“Patent law is changing all the time since it needs to change to reflect new technologies,” Falcon said. “But it needs to change in the correct, practical ways to make it as accessible as possible to the patent seekers who could be changing the world with their inventions. On the Patent Legislation Committee, that’s what we strive for, to make sure the bills lawmakers see and vote on are the most practical to the patent world.”
Falcon is also is a chair for the intellectual property law section at the Chester County Bar Association and is a 2013 graduate of Leadership Chester County.
