York, Pa. – Barley Snyder is pleased to announce the Honorable Stephen P. Linebaugh was honored as a fifty-year member of the York County Bar Association (YCBA). The award was given during the YCBA’s annual dinner held in April at the historic Yorktowne Hotel which celebrated events and accomplishments of 2022.
The YCBA is a non-profit professional membership association of attorneys and judges. It exists to serve the needs of lawyers, judges and the public of York County. According to its website, the association and its members are committed to promoting a legal and judicial system where the rights of all persons can be asserted, defined and protected. Linebaugh was admitted to the YCBA on September 25, 1972 and the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) on October 5, 1972.
“It is quite an honor to receive recognition of my work spanning over half a century in York County with the bar association,” said Linebaugh. “It’s an even greater honor to be part of an association that strives to uphold the highest ethical standards in law while forming valuable relationships throughout the years with members of the Bar and the community.”
Linebaugh is a retired York County Court of Common Pleas judge who joined Barley Snyder in 2019. He chairs the firm’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Service Team and is a member of the Litigation Practice Group. His work in the courtroom as an attorney and judge has made him a distinguished figure on a state and national level. In 2022, Linebaugh was admitted to the American Arbitration Association (AAA) Panel of Mediators, the world’s largest alternative dispute resolution provider. He is also involved with the AAA National Roster of Arbitrators which is comprised of highly accomplished and respected experts from the legal and business communities.
“During his time on the bench and in the bar Judge Linebaugh has been known his significant contributions to the judiciary, the bar association and our community as a whole. He has created a legacy in York County,” said Managing Partner Jeff Lobach. “Our firm is fortunate have the Judge’s example for future generations of our attorneys.”
During Linebaugh’s more than fifty years in the legal profession, he has received numerous accolades for his service. The PBA awarded him the “Everyday Leader Award” in 2006 for his work in refining the York County Drug Treatment Court. In 2015, Linebaugh received the PBA’s Chief Justice Ronald D. Castille Award for his contributions to improving civil legal aid. In 2019, the American Inns of Court’s York Chapter recognized him with its “Civility and Ethics Award.” Most recently in 2021, he was honored with a “Legal Excellence Award” by Central Penn Business Journal for his alternative dispute resolution work.
A fixture in the York community, Linebaugh has volunteered his time in leadership positions with nonprofit organizations including the Bob Hoffman YMCA, York County Crimestoppers, the Margaret Moul Foundation, the Boy Scouts of America, YouthBuild and the York County March of Dimes. Linebaugh is a lifelong resident of Dover Township, the same area his ancestors settled in the 1760s, where he resides with his wife Jane of more than 50 years.
