For Immediate Release

Reading, Pa. – Barley Snyder attorney Matthew G. Brushwood has been elected to serve on the Lehigh Valley Regional Board of Advisors for the River Crossing YMCA.

The YMCA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through programs focused on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The River Crossing YMCA operates multiple branches across Bucks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties in Pennsylvania, as well as Hunterdon County in New Jersey. Each location offers a wide range of programs and services tailored to meet the needs of its local community.

Brushwood’s involvement with the YMCA began in 2021 when he joined the former Allentown YMCA Advisory Council. “I’m excited to continue my involvement with the YMCA as I take on this new role,” said Brushwood. “The Y has had a meaningful impact on my life, and I’m proud to be part of an organization that continues to drive positive change in the communities it serves. I look forward to contributing to that mission and helping make a difference.”

In 2024, River Crossing YMCA hosted its fourth annual Lehigh Valley Region Gala, a celebration of the organization’s work and a fundraiser to support its community initiatives. Brushwood served on the gala committee, helping organize an event that raised over $170,000 — a $40,000 increase over the previous year’s event. The gala, attended by more than 250 people, provided vital funding for the YMCA’s outreach and financial assistance programs. Barley Snyder was a proud bronze sponsor of the event.

Brushwood is a member of Barley Snyder’s Creditors’ Rights Practice Group, serving clients throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland. With nearly 15 years of experience, he focuses his practice on residential and commercial mortgage foreclosure as well as complex consumer and commercial litigation. In addition, Brushwood represents secured and unsecured creditors, lenders and landlords in various areas.
