Harrisburg, Pa. – Barley Snyder attorney Sarah Yerger has been appointed as an arbitrator by the Dauphin County Board of Arbitration.
Yerger is a member of the Barley Snyder Alternative Dispute Resolution Service Team, which formed in early 2020 to provide arbitration and mediation services for legal disputes intending to be kept out of the courtroom.
The appointment is effective Jan. 1, and Yerger takes her oath of office on Dec. 17.
“The role of an arbitrator is a crucial one,” Yerger said. “Not every case belongs in an already overworked and overcrowded court system. There are disputes that can be trusted to trained arbitrators, who listen to both sides and can fairly rule in a case, using both their training and experience in a courtroom. I strongly believe in the good an arbitrator can do as a part of the legal system, and am happy that I can serve the Dauphin County court system by offering my services as an arbitrator.
Yerger is also a certified mediator for the U.S. Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Yerger’s primary practice is in the Barley Snyder Employment and Labor Law practice groups. In 2021, Best Lawyers named her “Lawyer of the Year” in the Harrisburg area for health care law. She’s also recognized as a “Best Lawyer” in commercial litigation, labor law – management and employment law – management. She is a member of the board of directors at the Human Resource Professionals of Central Pennsylvania and is a member of the Widener Law Commonwealth Advisory Board.
