For Immediate Release

Lancaster, Pa. – Two Barley Snyder attorneys have been elected to leadership positions on the Lancaster Bar Association Board of Directors – including the president position.

Partner David Freedman, who spent 2020 as the president-elect of the bar association, stepped into the role of president for 2021. Freedman had previously been the vice president of the bar association in 2015 and 2019.

“I am so honored to serve an organization that provides such valuable services to the legal profession and the public,” Freedman said. “For attorneys, the Lancaster Bar Association provides training and networking that helps them serve clients more effectively, plus wellness initiatives to address what is one of the most stressful environments a professional can work in. For the general public, the association helps to ensure equitable access to justice and evaluates candidates for judicial office. The pandemic has presented challenges that the association has never seen before. But we’re ready to meet this moment.”

The association’s board also installed Barley Snyder attorney Luke Weber as treasurer. Weber spent 2020 on the board as chair of the Lancaster Bar Association Young Lawyers Section.

“I strongly believe in the bar association and the positive effect it can have on the community,” Weber said. “I’ve seen firsthand the changes that can be made in people’s lives because of the bar association. I feel privileged to have the opportunity take on this new role in the organization. We have an energetic and diverse board coming on for 2021, and I look forward to working with them.”

Freedman is a partner in the firm’s Employment Practice Group, its Immigration Practice Group and is the chair of the Education Practice Group. In both 2015 and 2018, the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center named him its “Pro Bono Attorney of the Year.”

Weber is an attorney in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group and Health Care Industry Group. He and Freedman are part of a team that is working pro bono to obtain protection from deportation and employment authorization for immigrant survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
