Hanover, Pa. – Barley Snyder’s three-story, Center Square office in downtown Hanover has grown to house seven attorneys and additional professionals and staff thanks to the firm’s targeted, successful growth initiatives.
With limited space available for future growth, the firm faced a choice. Either move to a new location, or undertake an extensive renovation project to remain in the historic, 19th-century building and continue the investment the firm has made in Hanover’s downtown.
Six months of extensive renovations later, the firm has committed to stay in its convenient downtown Hanover location with a complete overhaul of its office.
“Hanover’s downtown is where we have always intended to be since we first opened there in 1999,” Barley Snyder managing partner Jeff Lobach said. “We are committed to the Hanover market and wanted to do whatever we needed to do to stay in this wonderful location. In this case, it meant updating our offices so that we can stay here now and in the future.”
In less than two years, the office has added the attorneys and staff from two reputable Hanover-area firms. In April 2017, it brought in the former Stonesifer Kelley and in January 2019, it added the former Guthrie, Nonemaker, Yingst & Hart. All of the professionals and staff at both offices joined Barley Snyder.
The moves added a dozen professionals to the Hanover office, necessitating more office space for the new members of the Barley family. Attorneys Matthew Guthrie and Keith Nonemaker kept their former York Street office to work out of while the renovations took shape.
In addition to updating existing offices in the current building, the reconstruction included connecting to and refurbishing a third-floor apartment to add more offices.
With the reconstruction complete, all of the office’s seven attorneys and corresponding staff are now housed in the Center Square office.
“There was no doubt we wanted to stay downtown,” partner Jeremy Frey, a Hanover native and partner in the downtown office, said. “We’ve always believed this office is in a prime location. So then it was the question of, ‘How can we make that happen? How do we stay here if we’re running out of space?’ We came up with an idea for this renovation that we knew would be difficult, but we also knew would be worth it to stay in this building and the downtown.”
