Malvern, Pa. – Barley Snyder is pleased to announce that partner and Intellectual Property Practice Group Chair Salvatore Anastasi has been elected as First Vice President of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
AIPLA is a national bar association that represents a variety of individuals from law firms, companies, and institutions involved in patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition law and other fields of law affecting intellectual property. The association is comprised of approximately 7,000 members dedicated to the practice of intellectual property law, both domestically and across the globe.
As First Vice President, Anastasi is a member of the executive committee and is charged with leading the AIPLA Annual Meeting and Spring Meeting in Austin, Texas. Since 1997, he has held many leadership roles of active involvement with the AIPLA, previously serving as Second Vice President from 2022-2023, as Treasurer from 2019-2022 and as a board member since 2014. His current position puts him on the path to becoming President of the Board of Directors in 2025.
“The AIPLA is a very special organization, and its members are fully dedicated to improving the intellectual property system and providing advanced professional development,” said Anastasi. “It’s an honor to help lead a collaborative community of diverse IP professionals in pursuit of providing valuable solutions to issues facing the IP system today.”
Anastasi has been an attorney at Barley Snyder for nearly 24 years, counseling clients on all aspects of intellectual property, including domestic and international patent preparation and prosecution and intellectual property litigation. He also litigates IP matters and prepares licensing agreements, patentability, trademark, validity and infringement opinions. His clients range in size from large multinational corporations to individual inventors that are located throughout the U.S. and internationally.
“Sal has played a pivotal role in the growth of our IP practice and has supported our other IP professionals who are making similar contributions to the national association,” said managing partner Jeff Lobach. “He has been an effective leader for the association, and we wish him another successful year with the AIPLA.”
Outside the firm, Anastasi also serves on the board of directors for the Brandywine Regional Airport. He previously served as a board member and Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Chester County Bar Association as well as a board member of the Chester County Bar Foundation.
