For Immediate Release
Malvern, Pa. – Barley Snyder is pleased to announce that partner and Intellectual Property Practice Group Chair Salvatore Anastasi has been elected as Second Vice President of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). He was elected to this role at AIPLA’s annual meeting in October.
AIPLA is a national bar association that represents a variety of individuals from law firms, companies and institutions involved in patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition law and other fields of law affecting intellectual property. Anastasi has served as Treasurer of AIPLA since 2019 and as a board member since 2014. In his new role as Second Vice President, Anastasi will further the organization’s mission as an advocate and leader in intellectual property. His election starts a four-year track to becoming the President of AIPLA.
“It is a great honor to enter the role of Second Vice President of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), a prestigious association that has been leading the way in shaping IP law and providing cutting edge education to its members for well over a century,” said Anastasi. “I am humbled to begin this new position as we continue to support IP professionals, foster innovation and creativity, and promote an effective and balanced intellectual property system. I look forward to serving our members along with my respected colleagues in this rapidly changing environment.”
Anastasi has been a partner at Barley Snyder for nearly 23 years, counseling clients on all aspects of intellectual property, including domestic and international patent preparation and prosecution and intellectual property litigation. He also litigates IP matters and prepares licensing agreements, patentability, trademark, validity and infringement opinions. His clients range in size from large multinational corporations to individual inventors that are located throughout the U.S. and internationally.
“Sal is not only a skilled patent attorney, but he is also an altruistic colleague and a strong leader,” said Barley Snyder managing partner Jeff Lobach. “He is a dedicated partner who has grown our IP practice, and it is no surprise that he now helps lead one of the most dominant associations in IP law in the world.”
Outside the firm, Anastasi also serves on the board of directors for the Brandywine Regional Airport. He previously served as a board member and Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Chester County Bar Association as well as a board member of the Chester County Bar Foundation.
