For Immediate Release
Lancaster, Pa. – InfraGard, a federal government cybersecurity partnership with members of the private sector, has approved Barley Snyder partner Donald R. Geiter, CIPP/US, for membership.
InfraGard is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the country’s business and education community for the protection of U.S. critical infrastructure. The group has 79 chapters throughout the country, and its members include business executives, military and government officials, information technology professionals, educators, attorneys and others.
The members of the group receive education, information sharing, networking and other benefits from both the members of the group and the FBI.
Geiter, the chair of the Barley Snyder Cybersecurity Service Team, applied for membership earlier this year and was recently approved.
“This is a group whose members are on the cutting edge of cybersecurity technology and methods in the United States,” Geiter said. “And this group shares security threat insight and observations both locally and throughout the country to its members. Having access to that kind of information is a big key in keeping business and critical infrastructures safe from hackers.”
Geiter has earned his Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) status – given to him from the International Association of Privacy Professions in 2020 – for his knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations and the ability to apply them locally, nationally and internationally. In 2019, Geiter earned a master’s degree in cybersecurity law and policy at the University of Maryland’s Francis King Carey School of Law, and he continues to be a frequent speaker for companies and organizations on a host of cybersecurity issues.
