Malvern, Pa. – Barley Snyder congratulates Joseph R. Falcon, III, partner and intellectual property attorney, for acquiring leadership roles with the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law (ABA-IPL) for the upcoming 2023-2024 bar year. Falcon will serve as Vice Chair of the International Patent Laws Committee and Liaison to the ABA-IPL Section of Litigation while remaining involved with the Patent Section 101 Task Force.
Falcon will continue his active involvement with the ABA-IPL with these positions effective September 1, 2023. His terms as chair of the Patent Litigation Committee and member of the America Invents Act (AIA) Task Force will end August 31, 2023.
“It is a great honor to serve with one of the largest organizations of intellectual property law in the world,” said Falcon. “Collaborating with some of the most knowledgeable professionals who work tirelessly to develop effective policies and publications has been a pleasure. I look forward to playing a vital role in the upcoming bar year.”
The American Bar Association is a voluntary association of lawyers with more than 400,000 members which provides legal education, legal information and initiatives to improve the legal system for the public, according to its website. The International Patent Laws Committee seeks to address issues arising out of differences in patent laws and practices of countries outside of the United States. Liaisons to the ABA-IPL Section of Litigation serve as ambassadors, facilitating the development of collegial relationships with other ABA entities as well as outside IP related organizations. The Patent Section 101 Task Force proposes languages for legislative changes to any patentable subject matter.
“During the more than 15 years I’ve known and worked with Joe, he has proven to be a valuable resource, providing a wealth of knowledge to our colleagues and clients alike,” said Barley Snyder Partner Salvatore Anastasi who chairs the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. “I congratulate him on being elected to these roles with the American Bar Association.”
Falcon is a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and is a registered U.S. Patent and Trademark Office patent attorney. He is active in his community, currently serving as a committee member for the Newtown Township Trails and Greenways and as a chairman for its Rail Trail Feasibility Study.
