For Immediate Release

Lancaster, Pa. – Barley Snyder is pleased to share that partner Joshua L. Schwartz has been helping lead the Lancaster Public Library’s “Fabulas” capital campaign as Vice President of its Board of Trustees. Since July 2021 (and between 2013 and 2020), Schwartz has been part of the team overseeing the fiscal and strategic operations of the library. He continues to support its latest initiative to relocate and renovate its new state-of-the-art building on Queen Street at Ewell Plaza slated to open in Spring 2023.

“It’s a really exciting time to be on the board of the library. I think that the move is going to be a good one for the organization and for the city, with the new location more accessible and closer to Central Market,” said Schwartz.

The new building will feature two floors totaling 43,000 square feet attached to a grand staircase along with a seven-story garage atop the library and an outdoor terrace for the community. The relocation and construction of the new library will cost roughly $10 million. The monetary goal of the campaign is $6.5 million and existing library resources will cover the remaining $3.5 million – all of which will fund design, construction, technology, fixtures, furnishings, moving expenses and more. Barley Snyder contributed to the library’s capital campaign, donating $25,000 to the cause.

“I think the new library is going to add beauty to downtown Lancaster and reignite the library patron community while helping us become the library of the 21st century that this community deserves,” said Schwartz.

Schwartz is a prolific trial attorney and counselor in the firm’s Litigation and Employment practice groups working primarily in employment counseling and litigation, labor law and workers’ compensation. Prior to serving as the library board’s Vice President, Schwartz served as Secretary of the Board of Trustees and was a Steering Committee Member.
