For Immediate Release
Lancaster, Pa. – Barley Snyder attorney – and former York County president judge – the Hon. Stephen Linebaugh is taking the experience he acquired from behind the bench and applying it to Barley Snyder’s newest service team.
The firm has named Judge Linebaugh the chair of its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Service Team, which will help businesses keep their disputes from reaching a courtroom. ADR includes non-courtroom solutions such as mediation and arbitration.
The National Judicial College has certified Judge Linebaugh twice – in 2008 and 2017 – as a trained mediator and arbitrator. He said his certifications and ADR experiences both on the bench and in private practice have helped him form a strong base to work for businesses that hope to avoid protracted courtroom disputes.
The new group is comprised of more than a dozen attorneys whose experience both in and out of the courtroom, and in ADR-specific cases, has trained them to be both fair and effective in reaching favorable, amicable and cost-saving solutions that can save business relationships.
“A courtroom is the last place anyone wants to be,” Linebaugh said. “It’s very costly for a business in terms of money, time and resources. Attorneys know that better than anyone, and the attorneys in our new group will work toward mutually favorable solutions in ADR cases.”
Jeff Lobach, Barley Snyder’s managing partner, said the team’s formation comes from what the firm has seen as an underserved legal need across the firm’s footprint. Lobach is also a member of the new group as an experienced arbitrator and mediator.
“We can offer businesses and the legal community a solution we think will keep them from expending valuable resources in a courtroom trial,” Lobach said. “Having this team available can make the legal process much easier and less stressful. And perhaps most important for businesses, less costly.”
