Lancaster, Pa. – Barley Snyder is proud to announce the hire of its summer associate for 2018, Cody Witmer.
Each year, our Summer Associate Program brings law school students into the firm to give them real-world experience as they prepare for a challenging and rewarding career as an attorney.
Witmer recently finished his second year of law school the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law in Philadelphia, after graduating from Drexel University with a B.S. in political science. After his first year in law school, he worked as a judicial intern for the Hon. J. Curtis Joyner in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
He is a central Pennsylvania resident from Marietta in Lancaster County, and is a graduate of Donegal High School.
“We believe the summer associate program is a key part of our future growth as a firm and is a great source for finding talented attorneys,” said Derek Dissinger, an associate at Barley Snyder who is in charge of the Summer Associate Program. “We provide these law students an opportunity to gain real-world legal experience and training in the legal field. The work assignments they are given as summer associates are exactly like the assignments they would receive as first-year associates. That means the transition from student to associate is smooth, which is better for the summer associates, the firm and our clients.”
Barley Snyder already is seeking candidates for its competitive, comprehensive 2019 Summer Associate Program, which is open to students who will have finished their first or second year of law school. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated academic excellence in college and in law school, plus have ties or a strong connection to our local communities.
